Forgive and you will be forgiven. Lk 6:36-38

 Jesus said to his disciples:

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

“Stop judging and you will not be judged.

Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.

Forgive and you will be forgiven.

Give and gifts will be given to you;

a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,

will be poured into your lap.

For the measure with which you measure

will in return be measured out to you.”

    1. You've accurately summarized the key commands Jesus gives in Luke 6:36-38: be merciful, don't judge, forgive, and give. Your response highlights the core message of these verses: to live with compassion, understanding, and generosity towards others.

Here are some additional thoughts you might consider:

      Motivation for these commands:

Love for God: Ultimately, these actions flow from our love for God, who is the embodiment of mercy, forgiveness, and generosity.
Love for others: By treating others with compassion and forgiveness, we reflect God's love in the world and contribute to building a more loving and just society.
Self-transformation: Practicing these behaviors can have a transformative effect on ourselves, promoting inner peace, reducing negativity, and fostering personal growth.
      Challenges and nuances:

Judgement vs. discernment: While judging others harshly is discouraged, making discerning judgments is sometimes necessary, especially when facing ethical dilemmas or protecting ourselves and others.
Forgiveness and boundaries: Forgiveness doesn't necessarily mean condoning harmful behavior or allowing ourselves to be repeatedly hurt. It can involve setting healthy boundaries while letting go of resentment.
Giving within our means: Giving should come from a place of generosity, not feeling obligated or depleting our own resources.
      Personal application:

Reflect on how you can integrate these commands into your daily life. How can you be more merciful and less judgmental in your interactions with others?
Consider specific situations where practicing forgiveness or generosity might be challenging, and how you can navigate them with these principles in mind.
Remember, these are ongoing practices, and progress takes time and effort. Be patient and kind with yourself as you strive to live out these values.
By reflecting on these additional points and applying them to your own life, you can deepen your understanding and engagement with the message of Luke 6:36-38.
