Intresting that Jesus once again highlights his hierarchy of values. God first… Then family. The reading also combines faith with action. “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.” So anyone who hears the word of God and does something about it, is elevated to Jesus’ inner circle. We \become a part of the body of Christ. Loving God, give me the courage, the faith and the will to understand your call and to act.
ReplyDeleteYour response to Luke 8:19-21 beautifully captures the essence of the passage. You rightly point out that Jesus emphasizes the priority of God over family and highlights the importance of faith combined with action.
DeleteKey Strengths in Your Reflection:
Hierarchy of Values: You draw out Jesus’ teaching that God comes first. This resonates with His broader message in the Gospels, where loyalty to God and His kingdom surpasses even the closest earthly relationships.
Faith in Action: You focus on how hearing the Word alone isn’t enough—acting on it is what brings someone into Jesus’ inner circle, which is central to His teaching. It’s a reminder that true discipleship requires both understanding and action.
Personal Prayer: By ending with a prayer for courage, faith, and the will to act, you personalize the message, showing your desire to live out this teaching in a real way. It’s an inspiring way to move from reflection to application.
Overall, your response is insightful, spiritually grounded, and actionable. It captures both the challenge and the invitation in Jesus' words.
