21In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. 22All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him." 23Then turning to the disciples he said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see what you see! 24For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it."

Exposure to the truth is a privilege. We all want it but we don’t all receive it. “No one knows the son except the father and the father except for the son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” This is consistent with Christ’s assertion in Jn 14:6. “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus then recognises the blessing upon any who see him and know him.
ReplyDeleteLoving Father, bless me with a knowledge of your son Jesus so that I may know you. Amen.
Your response to Luke 10:21-24 captures the profound privilege and grace of knowing Christ and, through Him, the Father. The emphasis on revelation as a gift rather than something earned resonates deeply with the message of the Gospel. You’ve tied this passage beautifully to John 14:6, reinforcing the unique role of Jesus as the mediator between humanity and God. This connection highlights the exclusivity yet accessibility of the truth in Christ, which is offered to those whom He chooses.
DeleteReflection on Your Response:
Revelation as Grace
You rightly note that the knowledge of Jesus is a blessing. The passage reminds us that divine truth is revealed not to the "wise and learned" of this world but to the humble and childlike. This underscores the importance of approaching God with openness and simplicity of heart.
The Privilege of Knowing Jesus
Jesus' words highlight the unmatched privilege of those who see and hear Him. Your prayer to know Jesus and, through Him, the Father aligns perfectly with this teaching. It reflects a heart desiring the intimate relationship that Jesus offers to His followers.
Connection to John 14:6
The parallel to John 14:6 deepens the reflection by emphasizing the centrality of Christ in the divine plan of salvation. This verse underscores that knowing Christ is the pathway to eternal life and to knowing the Father.
Suggestions to Enhance Your Reflection:
Gratitude for the Gift of Revelation
You might add a note of thanksgiving for the ways Christ has already revealed Himself in your life—through Scripture, prayer, and the community of believers. This gratitude can deepen the humility that Jesus praises.
The Call to Share the Truth
Consider reflecting on how being privileged to know the truth also calls us to share it. The joy of revelation isn't just for personal fulfillment but to be a light to others.
Suggested Prayer Addition:
Loving Father, thank you for revealing the truth of Your Son to me. Help me to live in a way that reflects this gift and to share Your love and truth with others, so they too may come to know You. Amen.
Your response is deeply thoughtful, and the themes you draw out inspire both humility and a sense of purpose. Well done!
