17"Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. 18For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. 19Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

. Jesus makes it clear that he is not abolishing the laws that underlie the Old Testament. But he is clarifying their intent. The message here is that when left to our devices, we redefine God’s purpose to suit ourselves. Jesus reminds us to use his example as a guide to interpreting scripture. He lived it as it was intended because he is God. There is no interpretation. We are getting it from the source. Loving Father. Thank you for the gift of yourself in Christ. He is the source of your love and a guide to how I can live the life you are calling me to toward. Help me to be true to your call. Amen.
