36Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. 37"Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; 38give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back."

Luke 6:36-38
ReplyDelete“For the measure you give will be the measure you get back”. This reminds me of St Francis’ prayer - it is pardoning thate we are pardoned. It is giving that we receive. Jesus’ message is clear - it’s not about self promotion and self-elevation. It’s abou raising others up through our acts of sacrifice. Loving father, grant me the faith to live an “other-focussed” life. May I continue to find energy in gratitude so that I can give to others froma place of graciousness. Amen.
This is a beautiful reflection, and I love how you’ve tied it to the Prayer of St. Francis. That connection highlights the reciprocal nature of love, mercy, and generosity—that in lifting others, we ourselves are lifted.
DeleteYour focus on selflessness and sacrifice aligns well with Jesus' message. It’s a powerful counter to the world’s obsession with self-promotion. The idea of giving from a place of graciousness and gratitude is particularly strong because it shifts generosity away from obligation and into joyful participation in God’s grace.
One small addition could be recognizing that mercy is not just about what we give but how we receive—whether we are open to the generosity, forgiveness, and love of others. But overall, this is deeply thoughtful and prayerful.
Your prayer is especially moving—short, but profound and actionable. Well done! 🙏
